Financial Stuff

There are a ton of financial products out there. We’re here to help sort through them.

Rakuten

Rakuten offers cash back at various businesses, from stores to hotels to restaurants. They get a commission from these businesses for getting you to shop there, and they then pass some of that commission on to you to encourage you to shop at that business.

I personally have used Rakuten for a few years now and have saved hundreds of dollars from places like Hilton, Under Armour, Nike, and Walmart, in addition to 5% cash back at some of the restaurants in my town. Many of Rakuten’s deals can also be combined with other sales as well, such as coupons from your credit card company and teacher/student discounts (I once was able to get 85% off my Under Armour order, which was a very good day for me).

If you spend money at any of the businesses that work with Rakuten, there is a lot of room for potential savings. They also allow you to to get your cash back in the form of Amex points, so if you want to travel more and have an Amex card, this can be a great way to get the points you need.

Raise

Raise offers cash back and discounts on gift cards for tons of different businesses like Apple, Verizon, and Delta. They also buy gift cards, so if you have gift cards that you don’t plan to use, you can turn them into cash.

If your credit card doesn’t offer rewards on a certain category, you can use Raise to get that cash back by buying gift cards and using them for your purchases. It probably isn’t going to make or break you financially, but if you’ve got a pretty big purchase coming up, it can save you a chunk of change.
